Kanitha Matoury is a business owner, veteran, and community advocate with deep roots in Oakland. For over 20 years, she has built businesses, created jobs, and championed local economic growth. Now, she is running for Oakland’s District 2 City Council seat in the special election on April 15th to bring real solutions to the issues of public safety, economic revitalization, and homelessness.

• Spice Monkey Restaurant & Bar: In 2008, Kanitha founded Spice Monkey, a restaurant that became more than just a dining spot—it was a hub for community engagement, connecting residents, business owners, and local leaders.
